Board Shaper Activation – Shaper’s Alley
Surfboard making is an art form and Sea.Hear.Now has gathered some of the best shapers on the East Coast, if not the world. Our “Shaper’s Alley” will be a living, breathing, workshop where the hand-picked craftsmen will make wave riding tools spanning the generations, from boards made of wood to today’s cutting edge technology. Pariticpants include:
Ricky Carroll Surfboards
Master surfboard maker Ricky Carroll is not just an East Coast legend; he’s one of the best in the world. The Floridian is a three time winner at “Icons of Foam,” beating out the best shapers on the planet. That’s why Ricky’s a legend but it’s also because he’s a style maven in the water and a beast behind the drum kit.
Asbury Park, NJ
Rozbern Surfboards are hand shaped and glassed by John Oppito under one roof at The Heavens in Asbury Park, NJ. A vital component to the rising respect for New Jersey surfing scene, Oppito has been shaping for 12 years and his boards are seen heavily in the lineups in New Jersey to Rhode Island and now, California.
Josh Peterson Surfboards
Outer Banks, NC
At 22, Josh Peterson has already studied under one of the masters of the craft Jeff Bushman, learning how to handshape in Bushman’s North Shore lair. He took that knowledge home where shaping and building boards for WRV in the Outer Banks while also spending heaps of time in Asbury Park shaping for Glide Surf Co.
