Kenny "Stringbean" Sorensen is a veteran singer-songwriter and world-class harmonica player based in Asbury Park. A Blues Leaf recording artist, Kenny has released 7 CDs on the label. A retired New York harbor pilot, Kenny began writing songs while a member of Asbury Park legend Big Danny Gallagher's band. Kenny began recording original material as a bandleader in 2000 on the Blues Leaf label and has 7 CDs on the label, including his most recent release "Gospel Time".
Kenny and his band have backed legendary blues master Hubert Sumlin and many blues greats and have played in places as diverse as Bali, Mississippi Hill Country, and NYC. They were featured in the award-winning documentary "Bike Riddim" about their commitment to biking here at the Jersey Shore.
For the last 8 years Kenny and his band have been playing every Monday night from May to October directly on the Asbury Park Boardwalk at Marilyn Schlossbach's APYC bar as "Boardwalk Social Club".
At SEA.HEAR.NOW, Boardwalk Social Club will bring the spirit of Asbury Park's music with some special veteran Asbury guest musicians.
